Movement is Medicine is a new series of essays in which Professor Alister Hart explores everyday questions that will help shape our future health. How much exercise is enough? Should pain make us stop? Does running damage our knees? And how much difference do our shoes really make? In Movement is Medicine, Professor Hart draws on the latest orthopaedic research to examine the everyday beliefs that shape how we exercise, respond to pain and look after our bodies. The essays take the science beyond the clinic, helping us make better-informed decisions about our muscles and joints throughout life.
Movement is Medicine grows out of the same ambition that drives Exercise for Science: to understand how movement affects our bodies, and use that evidence to help more people stay healthy for longer.
